No Derby stag Weekend or hen weekend would be complete without sampling some of the local ales!

Opened in March 2006, this real ale microbrewery takes its name from the name of the Roman Fort which existed close to the present brewery premises. The fort was built at what is now Chester Green, about a 15 minute riverside walk through Darley Park from the Darley Abbey Mills complex.

Derventio Brewery Ltd had its first home out in the village of Trusley, a short distance to the west of the city. They supply a small range of cask beers which can be bought for home consumtion in bottles or 10/20 litre plastic containers.

Of interest to stag and hen parties are the brewery tours and tasting evenings. This does not form part of your Derby Stag or Hen weekend treasure hunt; please contact the brewery directly to arrang, they are not difficult to find on the Internet!

Derby is a small city but has always had a good nightlife, although the casino was, for many years, the most celebrated nightime activity. Then in 1979, The Blue Note opened and immediately became the venue to be seen at! Through the eighties, many big names were bookes, including UB40 and the Thompson Twins and and I saw Soft Cell and the Human League there. The Blue Note survived where many of the other clubs didn’t, but since the arrival of the University, mor clubs have opened and clubbing in Derby is alive and well!

The Derby Conference Centre was originally the British Rail Training College building, built in the 1930s. This art deco grade II listed building has been brought into the 21 century yet still retains its Art Deco character and heart. There are 26 conference rooms that can be booked to accommodate up to 400 guests, 120 seat lecture theatre, 2 self-contained conference suites and a lounge of which the centre is justifiable proud! But it is so much more than just a conference venue, it offers 50 4 star bedrooms in which you can accommodate your delegates.

When Derby County Football Club moved from their original home at the Baseball ground to Pride Park, they had the vision to develop the ground with a view to the future and to create a venue that the city could be proud of. With a variety of suites to choose from for your conference or meeting, plus copious on site parking, this is a venue worth considering. There are good hotels nearby for the delegates.

But whichever conference venue you choose, be sure to organise one of our conference icebreaker or energiser Derby treasure hunts. These enable your delegates to relax, have fun, have a bit of competition and get to know each other.
